If you are experiencing digestive issues like constipation, bloating, food intolerances, IBS, Candida Overgrowth, SIBO, and Leaky Gut, colonics are not only beneficial but essential. In addition, they can help alleviate inflammation, migraines, headaches, fatigue, autoimmune conditions, and problematic skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, acne, and thrush. Colonics are also helpful for hormone imbalances, food intolerances, weakened immune systems, bad breath, body odour, and brain fog. In the short term, colonics can relieve acute constipation, gas and gas pain, reduce bloating, help with mental and emotional releases, and decrease inflammation of the gut and skin. Colonics are a great addition to your health, wellness and detoxification journey and can benefit people at various stages of their life and health path.
When it comes to colonic systems, there are various types available, however, the most commonly accepted approach involves filling the colon with water to expel waste. At Colonics Sydney, we opt for a different approach. Instead of filling the colon with water, we use an effective method that involves activating peristalsis - the muscular contractions of the digestive system - to stimulate a natural bowel movement and release waste. Our method uses filtered gravity-fed water that doesn't create enough pressure to fill your entire colon, which sets us apart from other colonic systems. We use the Woods Gravity method, which is gentle, safe, and comfortable, and helps to stimulate muscle memory of the colon while keeping the delicate mucosal lining intact.
We ask you fast from eating food for 3 hours and liquids 1 hour before your treatment. Arrive 10 minutes early so you can fill out a New Client Form and your Therapist will then analyse and consult with you. You will then be taken into the treatment room and thoroughly explained the procedure so you understand how the system works (there is also a video explanation above). The Therapist will leave the room and you will be asked to remove your clothing from the waist down (however you will be fully covered with disposable towelling). You will then lie on the bed.
Once you are ready your Therapist will enter the room to begin the treatment, the therapist has clean hands and will wear disposable gloves and a disposable apron and will prepare the workspace. An instrument called a speculum is lubricated and gently inserted into the rectum - THIS DOES NOT, AND SHOULD NOT HURT. At Colonics Sydney we use single-use (disposable), TGA-approved equipment which is collected and disposed of by an outsourced waste disposal service as per NSW Health requirements.
Once inserted, the water and waste tubes connect to the speculum. You are then covered up again completely - this process takes SECONDS. The water is then released down the water tube which does not generate enough pressure to travel into the colon, instead making it only to the rectum where it simultaneously exits through the waste tube and, through clever technique by the Therapist, the muscular contractions of the colon (called Peristalsis) are activated. The Therapist will gently massage your abdominal area when necessary and facilitate and control the entire process so you can relax and trust you are being well looked after. The treatment is approximately 40 minutes and during that time you can converse about lifestyle, health and gut issues.
It is imperative to mention that the colonic will not hurt though some discomfort in the gut may arise (which is a good thing - that means you are detoxing!). A highly experienced and qualified Therapist fully facilitates the treatment and we take pride in our extremely high hygiene standards. Though Colonics are considered an alternative health treatment, we give you a professional clinical experience with the comfort of a holistic setting.

Preparation before a colonic is relatively simple: Please refrain from eating for 3 hours before your appointment. If you want to drink any liquids such as hot drinks, juices, smoothies etc. please do so 1 hour beforehand. Water is fine right up until your appointment but we ask that you don't consume/scull large amounts just prior.
A deposit has been paid to secure your booking. You can pay the remainder of your colonic with cash, bank transfer or EFT upon completion of your treatment.
The way you feel after undergoing Colon Hydrotherapy can differ and is dependent on your individual health journey. You may experience a sense of lightness and vitality, fatigue, weariness, or simply feel indifferent.
Colon Hydrotherapy (colonic) is a detoxification process that may or may not cause some discomfort afterwards. We will provide you with Aftercare information which includes detailed solutions if you are to experience any after effects. We will also provide dietary suggestions post colonic. It is wise to avoid processed foods, alcohol and soft drinks after your colonic and instead consume bone broth, soup, good quality protein and stay well hydrated.

If you prefer, you can text us on 0404300765 (best to text rather than call) but please note that a deposit will need to be made via bank transfer to be able to secure the appointment.
This is a very difficult question to answer as there is no guarantee of how you can and will feel. The effects of colonics can differ from person to person and can also vary from one colonic session to another. Things like diet, lifestyle, age, health history, stress levels etc also come in to play.
Some people do feel more energetic, less bloated, lighter and more mentally clear. Moreover, colonics can have a cathartic effect. In some cases, a colonic session may be intense and leave the individual feeling fatigued. In such instances, it is advisable to go home and rest. It is important to note that the outcome of each colon hydrotherapy session may vary. It is best to approach the procedure without preconceived expectations as they cannot be guaranteed.
One of the most commonly asked questions is about the number of colonics one needs. While there is no set answer, it's important to understand that colonics are not a one-time solution and that we don't provide treatment plans until after your first colonic, but expect to book another session soon after as advised by your therapist.
Regular colon cleansing is recommended for your health and well-being, and it should be tailored to your budget and lifestyle. For optimal health and relief from issues like constipation, bloating, and digestive problems, a series of colonics or ongoing treatment is recommended, possibly every two weeks.
It is safe enough to have multiple colonics per week and/or weekly depending on your health and wellness goals, we will guide you through this.
Quite simply - no. At Colonics Sydney, we take pride in following rigorous regulations set forth by NSW Health therefore Colon Hydrotherapy with us is a low risk procedure.
At Colonics Sydney we use filtered water that is regulated by a Thermostatic Mixing Valve with our water temperature always set and regulated at 37 degrees celsius. We use TGA-approved single use equipment that is carefully disposed of immediately afterwards.
At Colonics Sydney THE COLON IS NOT FILLED with pressurised water.
With that said, misinformation plagues the Colon Hydrotherapy industry even though things such as "perforated bowels and microbiome disruption" are not actually factual and are highly dramatised and exaggerated!
Colon Hydrotherapy is an extremely effective solution for constipation and we can attest from years of clinical experience that colonics are the best way to relieve fecal impaction caused by hardened stools, and are more effective than laxatives but you do need to be realistic. Constipation is usually caused by a range of factors and you will need to consider the impacts of your diet, lifestyle, stress levels and gut health rather than solely hope one colonic will resolve it completely.

Like any procedure we can not guarantee immediate or ideal results but typically, yes they do. It is possible for Woods Gravity Colonics to effectively eliminate solid waste and gas, ultimately reducing uncomfortable bloating. If persistent bloating is an issue, we offer valuable guidance to identify potential causes such as IBS, leaky gut, diet and lifestyle, and can suggest lifestyle adjustments that can alleviate discomfort.
No. This is a very common concern but the idea that a colonic "flushes out" all good bacteria is an exaggeration and not supported by evidence.
Your gut bacteria naturally shifts and renews every day through normal bowel movements, diet and lifestyle. A colonic mainly helps remove accumulated waste from the colon, it does not sterilise or permanently eliminate beneficial bacteria.
What has far more impact on your gut microbiome is your daily diet and lifestyle - including what you eat, how stressed you are, your sleep quality, hydration, medications, and overall health habits. These factors play a much bigger role in shaping your gut environment than an occasional colonic ever could.
There is a misconception that having daily bowel movements means you do not need a colonic. However, this is not necessarily true as even a daily bowel movement does not guarantee a healthy stool. We are exposed to toxins on a daily basis, and our colon may have remaining waste that cannot be eliminated naturally. It's like a toothpaste tube that still has paste left inside even after squeezing it out. This waste can harden and cause various issues. Colonics are not just beneficial for bowel health but also for mental health, reducing gas and toxins, and improving skin inflammation. The benefits are endless!
If you have had recent abdominal and pelvic surgery including a C-Section birth or weight loss surgery, it is advised to wait 12 weeks until you can have a colonic. We regrettably and unfortunately can not treat anyone with Crohn's disease, Diverticulitis, Ulcerative colitis, kidney problems, Heart problems, active chemotherapy, colon cancer, colectomy, bowel perforation, bowel re-sectioning and if you're pregnant and have not had colonics previous to falling pregnant. If you have inflamed and painful haemorrhoids DO NOT book a colonic as we have had people unable to proceed with the treatment due to pain of insertion of the speculum. If you book a colonic knowing you have inflamed and painful haemorrhoids and we are unable to proceed, you will be liable for the full cost of treatment.
Our treatment bed is fixed and does not move up or down therefore anyone requiring assistance to get onto the bed, and to the toilet may have difficulties also.
We DO NOT treat children or very elderly people (over the age of 90).

Yes and No. Some people have haemorrhoids that do not bother them (essentially they are just 'there') and if that is the case, it is fine. If you have painful and inflamed haemorrhoids, then we do not suggest booking a colonic as the insertion of the speculum will be painful and we won't be able to facilitate your session.
If you still decide to proceed without disclosing to us that you have haemorrhoids that are painful, and we are unable to proceed, you are liable for the full cost of treatment even if it does not go ahead. Your deposit will be lost and no further appointments will be reschedule for you.
If you have haemorrhoids due to constipation, we highly recommend purchasing an enema kit instead (happybumco.com) ((happybumco.com))as the tip insertion is small and more comfortable.
Colonics typically do not interfere with any medication nor are there contraindications. This includes antibiotics. We do not typically treat anyone during active cycles of chemo, however.
For those taking Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy etc colonics are safe and extremely beneficial. These drugs will significantly slow your gut transit time and can cause severe constipation. Colonics can help.
At Colonics Sydney, we offer a unique method of Colon Hydrotherapy known as the Woods Gravity method, which does not involve filling the colon with water. Instead, this method relies on activating peristalsis, the natural muscular contractions that occur in the digestive tract. We do not use machines, pumps or pressurised water in this process. By regularly cleansing your colon with our method, you can strengthen and rehabilitate your colon. As a result, you may experience increased bowel movements due to improved peristalsis.
It's important to note that laxatives are not a solution to constipation. In fact, they can worsen the problem by not addressing the root cause of gut issues. Laxatives require water to work, which can lead to dehydration and further constipation. It's crucial to find ways to improve gut health and promote regularity without relying on laxatives to avoid exacerbating the issue.
No. Whilst highly beneficial, your first and/or one colonic does not fully clean the colon or 'reset' the gut. Rehabilitating the gut is a multi factorial process that often requires multiple sessions.
The colon is never empty (and it is never supposed to be!) as the colon works around the clock to detox us.
It's possible that you may have a significant amount of waste in your colon based on your personal circumstances. However, it's important to note that it may take more than one colonic for it to be released. Constipation can have several causes and typically requires lifestyle modifications and several cleansing sessions for accumulated waste to dislodge and pass during a colon cleanse.
It depends but usually stool, gas, bile, undigested food and bacterial overgrowths such as candida. Colonics do not remove "worms and parasites" every session regardless of social media claims and videos.
What's also interesting to note is the healthier you are including leading an active lifestyle - the better the results usually are. Or colons can flow or be stagnant and if you are dehydrated, eat poorly and are sedentary, you may not have much come out at all (this does not mean the colonic is redundant, it will still be beneficial).
During your colonic session, your hydrotherapist will be able to observe the results, but you will not. If you're curious, we can arrange to have parts of the session filmed however, please keep in mind that while we strive for ideal results, every colonic may not yield the same outcome. Additionally, filming during a session may not always be possible.
We suggest you wait an hour after your treatment before eating, to allow your body to rejuvenate before undergoing digestion again. Please avoid alcohol, sugar and processed foods as they can cause inflammation. Bone broth, soup, or a simple meal of protein and salad/cooked vegetables is a good choice after a colonic but do listen to your body - eat only if you're hungry. Remember to drink plenty of filtered water too. Aftercare will be provided to you after your session.
Yes there are!
Woods Gravity - this is the method we use and the main point of difference with this system is that we DO NOT FILL THE COLON with water. Whilst we still use water to facilitate the colonic, it is not filling you up. A Woods-Gravity colonic is facilitated with a tank of water and disposable tubing therefore there are no machines used. A Woods Gravity colonic is facilitated completely by the practitioner.
Closed System - this is the most common form of Colon Hydrotherapy using a machine that is facilitated by a practitioner. This system fills the colon with water and the waste exits the body via a speculum and tubing.
Open System - this is a self-facilitated colonic that fills the colon with water whilst you are emptying your bowels on a large bed-type facility.
Gravity System - this is the same system as Woods-Gravity however the colon is filled.

Yes you can, preferably wearing a tampon or menstrual cup. If that is not possible we can provide disposable padding to be placed strategically and comfortably during your session. All therapists are female, and all equipment is single use so this poses no health risks.
If you are not comfortable having a colonic during your period we can reschedule.
